So there I was, innocently perusing Flickr for a picture of a butter churn, when I am handed this picture of this guy, with a bowl of fresh butter, who’s under the username RedJar. For some reason, I see that youngish guy in what looks like a cabin-style house with a bowl of fresh butter and all of a sudden I’m wondering what the story is. So I peek around and, sure enough, the guy is pretty interesting. But it’s not the guy in the picture, who is just a relative or something of the guy who…okay, information overload, I know, but that’s how my brain works (and it never shuts down. Evar). I have no idea who the guy in the picture is.

I roamed over to his blog at redjar.org, and the first thing I saw was a link to the “Vermont 251 Club.” And now I’m interested again. It turns out the Vermont 251 Club is an informal club for people who are interested in visiting all 251 cities in Vermont.

My first thought: What a grand idea! And then: Does every state have this? Answer: No. Alabama does not (which is where I live). Can I start one? Sure, probably, but it would have to be the Alabama 6106 Club, because, little did I know, geographically Vermont is about the size of Alabama’s coastline, and according to this site, that’s how many towns Alabama has. Six thousand plus cities would be a noble achievement, yes, and to take a picture in every one…That could take a lifetime. Oh, what the hell, I’m in. I’ll get started on it right away.

Yawn.

I gotta cut grass tomorrow. And churn some butter. Yum. Want to know how to churn butter? Yes, even you can have perfectly fresh butter for your morning toast, and you don’t even need one of those big ceramic churns. Go here (this is how I do it, at least :-).
