Unabashed

Unabashed lives again in new digs. I’ve abandoned soon-to-be-owned-by-the-evil-empire Yahoo! hosting and switched to Surpass Hosting, a company with an excellent reputation for customer service based in Orlando, FL. The theme I had recently switched to, illacrimo, was causing a lot of aggravating errors, so I’ve had to change themes, but I think I like this one better. It’s the iTheme, by n.design studio, modified to 3-columns by mangoorange. I’ve had my eye on it for awhile, but haven’t switched to it, primarily because it’s the same one John Scalzi is now using, but ultimately it’s a theme that’s well-coded–a rarity, it seems, with themes–and attractive and free. Mr. Scalzi will just have to accept my apologies for mimicking him (although there are in excess of 25,000 other blogs that are using the theme). And he should, because I’ve bought most of his books. One good feature with this theme is that the modules in the right column are user collapsible, so if you find what I’ve put over there irritating or distracting, you can click the little ball-button and make it go away. You can also rearrange them.

So what have I been doing with my week off? Mainly wringing my hands, wishing the process could be faster. But it’s done now, and I’m pleased with the new digs. I did a backup before I switched, so I should have all my archives back on here soon. For now though, what you see is pretty much what you get. I’ve still got a lot of work to do, reconstructing the feeds and restoring the archives and installing plugins and such, but I’ll be working on it a little bit at a time. In the meantime, feel free to comment and let me know what you’ve been doing since I’ve been gone.
