Yesterday was a marathon 18-hour workday for me that didn’t end until 2:15 when I finally laid my head down thankfully in bed. The whole day was rainy, with gray skies and lovely soft rain pattering down, and I was out in it for a lot of the day. But then, an hour before sunset, the skies…did this…and I was fortunate enough to see it, standing on a little hilltop in Patton Chapel, Hoover, Alabama. Those clouds were roiling, moving, and I stared at it in awe for several minutes before I finally thought to get my little digital camera. I wish I could have had a better place to take the picture, without all those power lines spoiling the view, but the pic does little justice for the immensity of this sky and the brilliant blue backdrop above the red-hued clouds anyway. For the moments that I stood there staring, well, it doesn’t get much better than that. Click the image for a full-sized image.
