Some articles must be read… The Cluttered Mind
Dec 03

My DSL has been down for about eight hours. I called to report it, worked my way through the various AT&T phone menus (only to be hung up on three times) before finally talking to a warm body.

“I’d like to report that my DSL is not working,” I told the lady who finally answered.

“The internet is not working, it’s all down,” she replied.

“All of it?” I asked.

“All of it.”

At which point I began looking out the window for looters and listening for sirens and other proofs that the apocalypse was upon us.

My revised ending (were this my story):

At which point I hung up and found a different internet provider, because my DSL providers were idiots.

    LOL

    That’s great…ALL of it! LOL
I am about ready to kill my home DSL and pay for cable. I can’t get anything to load after about 7PM when all the rest of the neighborhood is hogging the bandwidth.

Ken: If only that was possible. I own six acres here, and though cable passes right by my driveway, said driveway is about a quarter mile long, and the cable guys won’t even touch it. So my only other choices are satellite, which I’ve done (it SUCKS), dialup (also SUCKS). With the options available, DSL is wonderful, marvelous, sensational! Even if their customer support is crap.

Al: Heh, thanks! Just keep in mind that cable is more likely to bog down after hours than DSL. With cable, everyone in the community is on the same pipe, whereas with DSL the pipes don’t converge until they get to central, and then they hop onto the fiber hub.
