Phillip, sorry, I can't help you there. I did very little research for this post, just looking for turtles in mythology. Thanks for stopping by.

Hey there. good post. Found it trying to do some personal research concerning Peruvian mythology and their beliefs (old world) on turtles, but its being very troublesome for me. I fear my researching skills have gone rusty over the years and was hoping maybe you could give me some insight or a point in the right direction. any help would be much appreciated!

Nice post Matt. I enjoyed it. I love ancient myths and their origins. I have a collection of books about myths from the various countries that I have visited. I think Joseph Campbell was right about the commonality of man's myths.

Thundering herd of turtles...lol. The Hindis did see an elephant, according to what I've read, but the elephant itself was supported by a turtle, too.

As a side note, I posted this piece too early by mistake. The article is a bit bigger now than it was when you read it...Oops.

And then there's a quote by my friend, "the thundering herd of turtles."

And I think some places do have different animals holding up the world. Some Hindis saw it as an elephant. I think the Eqyptians thought of the world animal as a croc.
