Fifth Sentence, Page 123

Matt Staggs tagged me for this meme: “To participate, you grab any book, go to page 123, find the fifth sentence, and blog it. Then tag five people.”

It does say “any book,” right? But somehow I didn’t think Hodges’ Harbrace College Handbook or Navigation and Nautical Astronomy would fit this bill. Therefore, I’ve trundled downstairs (to the bookshelf where we keep the fiction) and, eyes closed, picked up a copy of Timequake, by Kurt Vonnegut:

He was joiking, making fun, as was his wont, of the idea that there had ever been free will for anyone or anything, rerun or not.”

And now I’ll tag:

Ken McConnell

Steve Buchheit

Dave Klecha

Cherie Priest (Cherie doesn’t read this blog regularly that I know of, but she did allow me to interview her here, so I figure that (loosely) gives me license to tag her.)

And Stephen King (let’s see if he’s got the stones…)

    ::shakes fist at sky::

    Damn you Matt Mitchell! Okay, novel I’m critiquing doesn’t have page 123 here with me (already sent it back). Now I gotta go find a book.
